About Napa Valley:
The rich and fertile Napa Valley is the crown jewel of the California Wine Country. This rich and fertile stretch of valley, a little over 35 miles long, is home to almost 300 wineries; including several large “estate” wineries, and many smaller “boutique” wineries. Several of the larger wineries, like Robert Mondavi, offer guided tours of their facilities including their underground limestone caves and storage casks.
The Napa Valley Wine Region is often broken down into the following sub-regions: Napa, Yountville, Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena and Calistoga. The Napa Valley’s wines are highly regarded for their superior quality and diversity of style. The Napa Valley Wine Region encompasses nearly 295,000 acres, with more than 40,000 acres planted in grapes.
Some of the better know local wineries include: Darioush, Silverado Hills, Stag’s Leap, Sterling, Opus One, Robert Mondavi, Beringer, Charles Krug, Sutter Home, Domaine Chandon, Far Niente, Plumpjack, Silver Oak, Beaulieu, Joseph Phelps, and Louis Martini, Rombauer, and Sattui.
